The pattern
Short breadcrumb label: a page carries a second, short title for breadcrumbs. Every trail that passes through the page uses it, while the page keeps its full title.
When to use it
Pages whose title is written for search engines or marketing and is too long for a trail, such as landing pages titled with a sentence.
How it is configured
- Add a plain text field to the content type: here Breadcrumb title (
field_breadcrumb_title) on Basic page. Hide it in Manage display; it is only for the trail. - At Configuration › User interface › Easy breadcrumb, set Alternative title field name for breadcrumb to
field_breadcrumb_title. - Fill it in on the pages that need it. Pages that leave it empty, and content types without the field, use their title.
Custom Breadcrumbs does not read this field. In one of its rules, use a token such as [node:field_breadcrumb_title] instead.
