Blog

Built by: Easy Breadcrumb for the year archive, Custom Breadcrumbs for the posts

On a year archive such as /blog/2025, the trail is Home › Blog › 2025. Each post has Home › Blog › year › post, from a Custom Breadcrumbs rule: open one to see how it is configured.

The pattern

Hand-written trail for a family of paths: one regular expression matches every path of the same shape, and the parts it captures fill in the crumbs.

When to use it

Archives and listings with an argument in the URL: years, months, letters of an index. Here it is also a workaround: Easy Breadcrumb titles a view page with the title of the view, so every year page would otherwise read Blog.

How it is configured

  1. The view has a page at /blog with an optional Created year contextual filter, which serves /blog/2025 and every other year.
  2. At Configuration › User interface › Easy breadcrumb, add a line to Paths to replace with custom breadcrumbs:
    regex!/^blog/(\d{4})$ :: Blog | /blog :: $1
  3. regex! marks the line as a regular expression, matched against the path. $1 is the first captured group, the four-digit year; it can be used in a title or in a path.
