The pattern

Date archive: the trail goes through the year the post was published, linked to that year's archive page.

When to use it

Blogs, news, press releases and events: anything that is archived and browsed by date.

How it is configured

1. At Structure › Custom breadcrumbs, add a Content entity rule for Content, Blog post.
2. Breadcrumb paths:
   

   /blog
   /blog/[node:created:custom:Y]
   <nolink>

3. Breadcrumb titles:
   

   Blog
   [node:created:custom:Y]
   [node:title]

4. [node:created:custom:Y] is the year of the post's created date, in PHP date format: use Y/m in the path for a monthly archive.

The title is cut at 30 characters by Trim title length; see a long task. The archive page itself gets its trail from Easy Breadcrumb; see the blog.
